Musical Tradition

St. Mark's has long had a long tradition of "raising a joyful noise unto the Lord". That tradition continues to this day through the faith, hard work, and dedication of our choir members, our organist and our choir director. The kinds of music which can be heard in St. Mark's covers the entire spectrum of musical styles, ranging from classical pieces sung in Latin to spiritual, folk and contemporary selections. Our music adds a wonderful depth to our Sunday services. Choir rehearsals are on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m., from September through June. All are welcome to attend.

Our Organist

Dennis Mellander has been St. Mark's organist for 30 years. Over that period of time, he has provided beautiful and inspiring music for our congregation. He is not only a skillful organist but has also mastered the piano, harpsichord, and is a member of the Batavia Recorder Society.

Our Choir Director

Jason Holmes, our choir director is a recent graduate of the Eastman School of Music. In addition to having a beautiful singing voice, he is an accomplished pianist. Under his direction, the choir continues to provide truly beautiful music for our services. Jason is also a music teacher at Brighton Elementary School.

Our Choir

Our choir contains an eclectic group of parishioners from all walks of life who have in common the love of singing all musical styles and a desire to contribute to God's message through spiritually uplifting music. We are always looking for additional members of the congregation to join us in providing meaningful music to our worship services.
